The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Burgundy - Bourgogne

This is a wine that properly punches well above its appellation of AOC Bourgogne and is produced from the walled clos (vineyard) surrounding the Château, right next to the boundary of Puligny-Montrachet. This has become an iconic wine from this illustrious Domaine and is utterly delicious. There's power on the nose but is quite tight and minerally. The palate is massively engaging, with ripe lemon, lemon pith and zest and excellent minerality. The depth and texture make this truly feel like a Puligny in all but name!

The Winemaker

Etienne de Montille
Winemaker:

Etienne de Montille

Domaine de Montille, located in Burgundy, is renowned for its production of both red and white wines across Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The estate gained recognition under Hubert de Montille, known for crafting wines that were structured and built for long aging. Since the 1990s, Etienne de Montille has modernized the approach, adopting organic farming in 1995 and biodynamic practices by 2005. Etienne's changes have resulted in wines that are more approachable in their youth but still capable of aging gracefully.

"A wonderful wine with aromas of citrus, white flowers and subtle minerality with wonderful vibrancy, layers of green apple, pear, and a hint of almond, underpinned by a chalky texture and a long, refreshing finish." - Etienne de Montille, Winemaker.
