Burgundy is steeped in tradition, with many family-run wineries crafting classic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Sebastien Magnien, a fourth-generation winemaker, stands out as a pioneer within this heritage. Emphasizing sustainable practices and minimal intervention, he ensures that each grape bunch is meticulously selected to showcase the terroir's true character. The result is an elegantly fruit-forward red wine, featuring hints of cherry and a touch of spice on the palate.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Sebastien Magnien
The fourth-generation vigneron Sebastien Magnien has made a name for himself as a champion of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune sub-region. Originally from the small village of Meloisey, Sebastien says "I've been in the vineyard and the cellar since birth". By studying Viticulture and Oenology, Sebastien has accumulated his knowledge for wine by working around the world in regions such as Sonoma as well as close to home with famous winemaker Olivier Leflaive. Sebastien has built up his range by identifying vineyard sites with the potential to outperform their status.
"The key aim when making this Pinot Noir was to show the potential that this grape can have. By hand-harvesting and keeping intervention to a minimum in the winery, we have managed to craft an elegant yet refined red, packed with red fruit character with only a touch of spice from the oak. I hope you enjoy it." - Sebastien Magnien, Winemaker.
