  • The oak here is perfectly managed, with just 20% of it used in the 18-month ageing being new, which has left this wine bright and very well poised.
  • A very impressive white that is approachable now but will reward careful cellaring for three to five years handsomely.
  • Floral hints develop into richer orchard fruit notes and lead onto a palate that is bright, textured and seamlessly combines minerality with density and structure.
  • ABV: 13.5%

The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Burgundy - Puligny-Montrachet

Olivier Leflaive, a member of the famed Leflaive family, is a well-respected producer known for his expertise in crafting a range of exceptionally high-quality Burgundian wines, including this stunning Puligny. A light lemon colour in the glass with floral notes that slowly meld into a full fruit-driven bouquet. There’s an excellent steely core, true to signature Puligny, with plenty of concentration and just the right balance of freshness to tighten up the minerally finish. This classic and classy Puligny-Montrachet is a great food-friendly wine and is truly excellent when paired with fish served with a butter sauce.

The Winemaker

Olivier Leflaive
Winemaker:

Olivier Leflaive

Originally having a career in radio and television, unforeseen circumstances drew Olivier Leflaive back to his family's estate. After working alongside his uncle for many years he decided to branch out and create wines under his own name, selecting grapes from the most prestigious vineyards in Burgundy and beyond to create exceptional wines brimming with fruit character and complexity.

"This wine is distinguished by its floral lightness and a clear directness that does not fail to instantly captivate. It presents excellent balance between mineral calm and delicate generosity, creating a tasting that is both elegant and entertaining." - Olivier Leflaive, Winemaker.
