The Wine

Country of origin:

Spain

Region:

Jerez

The Pata de Gallina Oloroso, from Lustau's small range focusing on very small-batch sherry soleras, is a distinguished sherry embodying the essence of tradition and craftsmanship. With rich, nutty flavors and a smooth, velvety texture, this wine offers an exceptional tasting experience. Aged in American oak casks, it presents notes of toasted almonds, caramel and a hint of spice, making it a perfect companion for both savoury dishes and indulgent desserts.

The Winemaker

Sergio Martinez
Winemaker:

Sergio Martinez

Sergio has lost count of his accolades after a string of internationally recognised 'best winemaker' awards in recent years. It's that kind of level that Bodegas Lustau insists upon. He is without doubt a star of the fortified wine world and he has some of the best raw material to play with at Lustau.

"This exclusive solera has only 38 casks, aged in the charming bodega 'El Aljibe' in Jerez de la Frontera. 'Pata de Gallina' is the name for wines that display an above-average richness and smoothnes. Dark gold in colour with aromas of dried fruits and pipe tobacco. Very concentrated with a powerful intensity on the palate and a slightly sweet finish, found in the oldest soleras of Oloroso sherries." - Sergio Martinez, Winemaker.
