Magic Cellars Shiraz Malbec Touriga 2024

- A unique red blend that focuses on small parcels of wine from dry-farmed vineyards in the magnificent Swartland region.
- The Shiraz component brings dark berry fruit character and weight, Malbec brings juicy blue fruits and the Touriga adds layers of liquorice and dark chocolate.
- It’ll come as no surprise that this wine is great with juicy cuts of steak and charred chops, but it also works wonderfully with a medium spiced curry.

The Wine The Wine
South Africa
Region:Swartland
A winery’s cellar is one of those few special places that can be described as magical, and one that perfectly captures the essence of winemaking. Visiting these cellars can be truly inspirational and has led to the creation of our Magic Cellars series, where we celebrate the skills, art and magic of winemaking. This one-of-a-kind cuvée was blended in the cellar (albeit not a dusty, dark cave underground) in the heart of South Africa’s Swartland region, bringing together Shiraz, Malbec and Touriga Nacional. A deliciously full red with dense black fruit and a long, silky-smooth finish.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jacques Theron
Jacques Theron has been hands on, working in wineries since he graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2003 after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Viticulture and Enology. In 2017 he became the Senior Winemaker at Riebeek Valley Wine Co where his raison d'être is to express the terroir in each glass of wine. He enjoys understanding and harnessing the diversified terroir of the Kasteelberg Mountain and the individuality of each vintage to create singular wines.
"I love the black fruit you get from Swartland Shiraz, and it accounts for the lion's share in this juicy red. The Malbec and Touriga play supporting roles, bringing forward floral and spicy notes. This harmonious Cape red can be enjoyed on its own, by the glass, or paired with red meat and game." - Jacques Theron, Winemaker.
