The Wine The Wine
South Africa
Region:Swartland
The grapes come from a single, low-yielding vineyard block located on one of the best Swartland farms in South Africa’s Western Cape - a wonderful location where the vines benefit from cooling sea breezes from the Benguela current. The block is marked out, and the grapes harvested and fermented separately to capture the unique characters of this special plot. This is a wonderful white wine with passionfruit notes, excellent fruit concentration, a touch of pineapple and a long finish that has a lovely crunchiness to it, like a super fresh Granny Smith apple.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Ben Snyman
Ben Snyman graduated with a degree in viticulture and oenology in 2009 at the University of Stellenbosch. The following year, he did a harvest season at Chalk Hill in the renowned Sonoma Valley in California, where he says he accumulated immeasurable experience. He's also done harvests at Vrede en Lust, Boschendal and a range of other prestigious estates. Snyman was appointed winemaker at Overhex Private Cellar in 2010. Last year, he was promoted to head winemaker at the cellar, which is part of Overhex Wines International.
"I love making wine from this plot of vines each vintage and this bottling has a lovely bright fruitiness and juicy mid-palate. The finish is long and balanced, and I love the tanginess that lingers." - Ben Snyman, Winemaker.
