The Wine

Country of origin:

Argentina

Region:

Mendoza

Mendoza is considered the capital of the Argentinian winemaking world, and with good reason. The wines are fruitful and pure with excellent balance. With Malbec being such an important variety here, whites like the beautifully fragrant Torrontes often get overlooked. This floral, pretty white wine is a perfect expression of this unique variety, and winemaker Stephen Huse adds complexity and texture by adding a small proportion of barrel-aged wine. This gives By The Hand Torrontes subtle hints of toast which complement the citrus and stone fruits that sit at the very core of this wine. In our opinion, there's no better white to pair with Asian-inspired cuisine.

The Winemaker

Stephen Huse
Winemaker:

Stephen Huse

Stephen Huse trained in oenology at the University of Bordeaux. Before establishing Belhara Estate he worked within the winemaking team at the highly esteemed Châteaux Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild, as well as at Harlan Estate and Merryvale Vineyards in the Napa Valley and Almaviva (Concha y Toro) in Chile.

"These Torrontes grapes are sourced from select vineyards, where the combination of high altitude and cool climate allows for slow ripening and the development of exquisite aromas and flavours. The wine is carefully fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its vibrant fruit character, and then a small proportion of the wine is aged in oak barrels to add depth and complexity to the final expression." - Stephen Huse, Winemaker.
