Here's a grape that doesn't get enough attention. Maybe Tempranillo is a safe bet from this part of Spain, but when cultivated from vines with some age that have had the chance to dig their roots deep into the dry earth of central Spain, Bobal can produce rich red wines with abundant black fruit and layers of spice, all with a charming and unique rusticity.

Working in La Mancha gives Jose lots of grape varieties to play with in the winery. As the region is generally hot and dry, the grapes will often be received in excellent health at very reasonable prices, allowing him to produce characterful wine with a very favourable quality-to-price ratio.
