The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Alsace
France's Alsace is a wonderfully unique wine producing region and home to a collection of grape varieties that haven't been adopted, like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonay, and Syrah have, making it one of the most exciting and exclusive regions. At the domaine, the viticulture and winemaking is taken care of by Jean Boxler, and his meticulous attention and unwavering love and understanding of his land, enables him to harness the very best from the rich array of soil types and consistently hot Alsatian climate, to produce incredibly rich, intensely structured and very long-lived wines.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jean Boxler
Tucked away above the sleepy village of Niedermorschwihr, Jean Boxler quietly crafts some of the most beautifully balanced and expressive wines of the appellation. It was Jean's grandfather, Albert (whose name the domaine bears), that was the first generation to bottle the family's production himself and commercialize it under a family label, created by his cousin, back in 1946. This was after he had returned to Niedermorschwihr from Montana after the 2nd World War. Albert's son, Jean-Marc, continued the family business on for several decades until relinquishing duties to his son Jean Boxler in 1996.
"This is a vibrant, refreshing and elegant wine with a welcome richness and density of fruit. The natural fresh acidity helps lift and extend the gorgeous green apple and stone fruit nuances on the crisp, long finish!" - Jean Boxler, Winemaker.
