It is the perfectly ripe fruit which makes this Pénombre Sauvignon so delicious, so refreshing, so sippable and so appetisingly moreish. Hats off to winemaker Jean-Pierre Driey and viticulturalist Virginie Berthuit who have together completely reworked these plots of Sauvignon Blanc and judged perfectly when to pick their grapes at the peak of ripeness, capturing their refreshing fruit within the purity of flavour of delicious Sauvignon Blanc.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jean-Pierre Driey and Kim Tidy
Kim has been making wines with Jean-Pierre Driey and Cyril Payon at the Cave de L'Ormarine in the Languedoc for nearly 5 years. As well as rosé, they make white and red - and they say maybe a sparkling one day. Their philosophy is that wine is made to be enjoyed not to be put on a pedestal or traded as futures. After finding a love of wine at a young age (Kim attended cheese and wine classes from the age of 12 - although sadly couldn't taste the wines, he developed an appreciation for them) they relish the challenge of blending the different components to make a wine which delights.
"When tasting through all the wines with Jean-Pierre post-harvest, this irresistible style stood head and shoulders above the rest, and I'm excited by this first vintage of La Pénombre Sauvignon Blanc." - Jean-Pierre Driey & Kim Tidy, Winemakers.
