The Wine The Wine
Argentina
Region:Mendoza - Uco Valley
Located up in the most Northern reaches of the Uco Valley within Tupungato, Gualtallary is the home to some of the highest altitude vineyards in Argentina. It is up here that our winemaker Sebastian Zuccardi has worked within this unique site to create his latest addition to the Aluvional range. By focusing on the soils, Sebastian works with the land to create a wine which is expressive of this area. This results in a wine oozing with concentrated notes of blackberry, cherry and plum complemented by fresh herbs and a mineral texture. An excellent example of winemaking with terroir in mind!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Sebastián Zuccardi
Sebastián Zuccardi, a third-generation winemaker, is recognised globally as one of Argentina's top producers. A graduate in Agricultural Engineering from the National University of Cuyo, Sebastián refined his winemaking philosophy through experiences in wine regions across the United States, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. His approach centres on achieving identity through terroir and, as his understanding of the vineyards deepened, he realised that excessive oak was masking the grapes' natural character. Today, he prioritises the fruit's freshness and purity, continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Alberto 'Tito' Zuccardi, and father, José Zuccardi.
"Wine is people and place, or place and people. That is why I try to make our wines tell the story of where we are from, but also the story of who makes them. We make pure mountain wines from Argentina." - Sebastian Zuccardi, Winemaker.
