The Wine The Wine
Argentina
Region:Mendoza
The team at Zuccardi has taken their flagship Malbec and given it an exhilarating twist. Sure, Malbec is already bold, but one sip of this fortified gem will have you appreciating their brilliant madness. Using the Port method, fermentation is halted with a dash of grape spirit, raising the alcohol and the intrigue. After 24 months in oak, the result is simply spectacular: a luscious yet brooding wine brimming with sweet dark berries, fig, raisin, quince, toasted nuts, and a swirl of cinnamon spice.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Rubén Ruffo
Rubén Ruffo, a graduate in Oenology from Mendoza's Juan Agustin Maza University, has spent over 30 vintages perfecting his craft at Zuccardi's Santa Julia winery since 1990. His extensive travels across renowned wine regions in France, Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Catalonia, and Verona have enriched his expertise. A dedicated winemaker, Rubén is known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to inspire a shared passion for winemaking among his team.
"A purple hue stands out with some orange hues typical of maturity. It has a delicate and intense aroma of dried fruits such as almonds, chestnuts and walnuts, combined with notes of plums, figs, quince and cinnamon. The palate is remarkably sweet and silky, with broad development and a persistent finish." - Ruben Ruffo, Winemaker.
