The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Burgundy - Côte-d'Or
As you journey through the undulating vineyards of the Côte de Beaune, you spot the iconic Sorine Windmill overlooking the vineyards of Santenay. In the southern-most point of the Côtes du Beaune, Jean-Baptiste and his family work in tune with the land to produce outstanding quality Pinot Noir. From the best vineyards on their land they have carefully selected their grapes, sculpting this wine to be powerful yet harmonious. This results in a fruit forward wine which exudes ripe aromas of strawberry, cherry, and a hint of spice on the nose. An ideal partner to any cheese board or even coq au vin.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume
Based in Santenay, Jean Baptiste comes from a long family line intimately involved in wine, stretching back over 200 years. Jean-Baptiste collected the Young Burgundian Winemaker of the Year in 2012 at the age of 23, although his teenage years were spent in other verdant fields - football pitches! After a stint as head winemaker for a large Côte Chalonnaise Domaine, he finally set up on his own in 2019 and the selection closely echoes the offerings of his forebears 200 years ago.
"What I've inherited is not only an estate. It's an expectation. An expectation of ensuring the exceptional quality for which my family's wines are known. This wine is the truest expression of this." - Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, Winemaker.
