The Wine The Wine
Australia
Region:McLaren Vale
A bottling that has a touch of age on it, which is a hark back to the good old days of the Aussie releases we used to enjoy, where wines had been given the chance to mellow a tad, grow into themselves and develop a touch of complexity and roundness. That's before the demand outstripped supply and younger, uber ripe, fruit-forward releases became the norm. We've still been able to access some of these slightly aged releases, but not quite as many as we'd like! A classic cassis fruit and spicy themed McLaren Vale that has a soft plush mouth feel that says sip, swirl and enjoy me, over and over.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Andréa Maxwell
Andréa grew up in South Africa and completed her degree in Viticulture & Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. Her love for wine developed early, starting a wine course while still in school. After two vintages in South Africa, she moved to Australia and has been ingrained in the industry since. In her spare time, she enjoys walking with her partner and their gorgeous English Cocker Spaniel, Darcy, through their own Shiraz vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale.
“If you talk about wine, it doesn’t matter what language you speak. It will intrinsically connect you to people.”
"I love the way this wine has evolved, and the oak has now integrated with the plush fruit perfectly. It is generous and rounded and will age and develop further, given the chance." - Andréa Maxwell, Winemaker.
