The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Rhône - Gigondas

Wines from Domaine la Bouïssière hail from some of the highest vineyards in Gigondas. This makes them markedly more balanced, elegant and age-worthy than wines from the lowlands. This natural advantage is coupled with Thierry Faravel's winemaking flare, making this a first-rate red, rivalling not only other wines from this region but also many expensive Châteauneufs. It has the ability to evolve harmoniously over time, allowing it to gain in complexity without ever losing the freshness and class that characterises it. It'll make the perfect accompaniment to game dishes such as roast pigeon or confit duck.

The Winemaker

Thierry Faravel
Winemaker:

Thierry Faravel

60 years ago, Antonin Faravel planted his first vines directly above the Dentelles de Montmirail, at a place called Grande Bouïssière. Thierry Faravel is his youngest son, who at the age of 26 took over the Domaine when his father passed away. Since then he has honed his skills as a superb winemaker, and his older brother Gilles looks after the vines.

"Composed of three-quarters of Grenache and a quarter Syrah vinified almost completely in the entire harvest, this cru has the great qualities of a southern wine benefiting from old vines of altitude and a long aging in casks and half in vats. Its juicy, racy, harmonious, fresh character, with particularly well-defined and integrated tannins, clearly sets it apart from the other wines of the estate." - Thierry Faravel, Winemaker.
