The Wine The Wine
Australia
Region:McLaren Vale
Crafted without any constraints or compromise, this offering was made from a few very high-quality Shiraz parcels, sourced from some of the very best plots in the McLaren Vale. These were harvested separately and blended post ferment, when a small proportion of Touriga Nacional was added to give the wine some added density and enhance the silkiness of the tannins on the finish. Although this grape variety is often associated with Portugal, the Australians were producing wines from this grape long before Shiraz gained traction. However, the two grapes make an impressive union in this small-batch bottling.

Steve Grimley
"It's amazing how potent Touriga is, we started with something like 20-30% in the wines, and now we're back around 10% as we are in this wine. Super dark fruits and a bit of aniseed, the palate is real silky and with a bit of modern funk adding another layer of distraction. A little more old world than the others, I think this will be one that offers more intrigue after a couple of years in the cellar, but it's certainly ripe and ready enough now should that be of no interest." - Steve Grimley, Winemaker.
