The Wine The Wine
Chile
Region:Maipo Valley
Given the right conditions Syrah is a variety that can develop wonderful purity on the vine. Bottled wines combine mineral freshness with powerful fruit character. The Maipo has long been regarded as the place to get the most out of red varieties in Chile. Well suited soils, long Mediterranean summers and vine revitalising rains in winter create a perfect storm. Lof Syrah is a top-class, handmade from vineyard to bottle red. Full of dense red fruit, gentle spice a long balanced finish.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Germán Lyon
Viña Perez Cruz is a multi-award-winning winery, receiving rave reviews from customers and wine writers alike. Their immaculate vineyards can be found in the Maipo Valley, long regarded as Chile's premium red-grape-producing region. Their vines are planted on a variety of soil types that imbue the grapes with distinct flavour characteristics. Winemaker Germán Lyon firmly believes that every bottle of wine produced carefully reflects the 'terroir' of Maipo Valley.
"Lof Syrah is a wine with lovely structure and texture. A powerful red with plenty of depth and character, earthy and mineral notes joined with herbal subtleties of rosemary and thyme. An interesting way to look at this wine is that it sits in reverse where earth and spice notes come first followed by swathes of ripe red fruit. The oak sits in perfect harmony, working with the fruit, not against it. A wine for now or keep for a future date." - Germán Lyon, Winemaker.
