With an interesting and scientific manufacturing process the guys at Croft have managed to create a light and truly refreshing rosé style Port. Made using traditional red Port grapes, this 19.5% ABV Port is set to get you merry before you even realise it. Drinking this very cold, with tonic water and ice is a must. It is amazing.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
David Guimaraens
David Guimaraens is the 6th generation of the founder of Fonseca Guimaraens. At 18, he set out to experience winemaking in Australia, California and Oregon. David formalised his education in Oenology at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. After graduating and working, he returned to Portugal in 1990 to join the Fonseca winemaking team. He has been instrumental in producing the Fonseca and Taylor Fladgate wines since, now serving as a Director of Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca.
"The winemaking approach was to take red Port grapes and handle them in a similar way to producing an elegant non-wooded white wine. The result is attractive floral notes underlining the pungent, aromatic raspberry fruit aromas. The palate is full of deliciously ripe cherry and raspberry fruit flavours with lovely nuances of honey and grapefruit." David Guimaraens, Winemaker.
