10-year-old Tawny from legendary Portuguese producer, Fonseca. Russet in colour with brilliant crimson highlights and dense, ripe, jammy black fruit character. Its wonderfully smooth, silky texture and subtle oak nuances are balanced by fresh herbal notes and a crunchy red berry character. The plummy finish on this fortified wine is long and delicious plus barrel ageing has added a nutty complexity. Fonseca Ports are always elegant and so, so drinkable. This one's best with a good bar of dark chocolate.
The Winemaker The Winemaker
David Guimaraens
David Guimaraens is the 6th generation of the founder of Fonseca Guimaraens. At 18, he set out to experience winemaking in Australia, California and Oregon. David formalised his education in Oenology at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. After graduating and working, he returned to Portugal in 1990 to join the Fonseca winemaking team. He has been instrumental in producing the Fonseca and Taylor Fladgate wines since, now serving as a Director of Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca.
