The Wine The Wine
France
Region:Rhône - Côtes du Ventoux
Ventoux in the Southern Rhône is a source of great value, easy-going reds. The name 'Herbes Blanches' comes from a hillside near the Domaine where the vegetation consists primarily of white flowers, providing inspiration for the name and unique label design. The superb structure ensures this wine ages gracefully over the next 12-18 months, developing additional spicy, savoury aromas. Still incredibly charming right now, showing bright fruit and delicious intensity. Great with grilled meats!
The Winemaker The Winemaker
Romain Leroy
Romain was born and raised in a small village in Provence, where his father, a talented chef, taught him how to cook, taste, smell and explore the gastronomy and wines of Southern France. As a young man he became an advocate for environmental protection and so naturally chose to study botany and ecology as he grew up. Once graduated, his urge to travel the world saw him working for African NGOs, and it was during a road trip to South Africa that he truly discovered his passion for wines, visiting the wineries of Stellenbosch. This stirred in him the desire to really understand viticulture and winemaking in particular so he returned home and started a degree in winemaking. After graduating, he became a 'flying winemaker' where he worked simultaneously between the Rhône Valley, Languedoc and Argentina, before finally settling in the Southern Rhône Valley.
"Soft, fruity and bursting with bright red fruit flavours, its spicy notes make it the perfect pair for grilled meats and casserole dishes." - Romain Leroy, Winemaker.
