The Wine

Country of origin:

France

Region:

Bordeaux - Graves

This is the latest vintage at Chateau du Seuil where they've employed a very hands-on process of fermenting small batches of grapes in individual barrels, rotating them six times a day. This allows for a very gentle extraction of tannins and ultimately a softer, more approachable wine. Heritage du Seuil is a perfectly integrated wine that balances power and elegance.

The Winemaker

Nicola Allison
Winemaker:

Nicola Allison

The wines from this appellation take their name from the river gravel that covers the entire plateau. This gravel is combined with sand, clay and limestone which all contribute to the uniqueness of the Graves and the characteristic minerality which is expressed in the wines.

"Grapes are selected for Heritage in advance of the harvest. Additionally, post harvest, we employ a system of triage allowing for further grape selection. Primary fermentation is undertaken in specially modified rotating 400 litre new oak barrels after a period of 5-6 days of cold maceration and skin contact."
